Balustrades, pool fencing, external stairs, burglar bars on windows: these are the pieces of metalwork people see every day, and they have to hold. Maureo fabricates them to measure in steel, to the standard expected in a villa or apartment building, and installs them without damaging the existing finishes.
We build balustrades with vertical bars, horizontal rails, sheet infill or frames ready for glass. Staircases are drawn from the site survey: stringers, folded-sheet treads or treads ready for timber, landings and handrails. Burglar bars are made for each opening and fixed into the masonry. Fire escape stairs for commercial buildings are built from the engineer's drawings.
Every job starts with a site visit by our team to take dimensions and check fixing options. You receive a detailed quote within 5 days, the workshop starts on receipt of the deposit and a single point of contact follows the installation. We work across Mauritius from Goodlands.

Typical lead time
Quote within 5 days of the site visit. A terrace balustrade is typically fabricated and installed within a few weeks; a full staircase takes longer. A firm date is given in the quote.

Frequently asked questions
What height should a balustrade be?
We work to the common heights and bar spacings used to prevent falls and stop a child passing through, and we follow the architect's drawings where they exist. The detail is fixed in the quote.
Galvanised, painted or stainless steel?
For coastal villas, hot-dip galvanised steel with a paint finish is a good balance of durability and cost. Stainless steel can be offered for specific items on request. We advise according to exposure.
Can you fit burglar bars without damaging the facade?
Yes. Bars are fixed into the masonry with plates and anchors suited to the substrate, and drill holes are made good. Each opening is measured individually.
Do you build external fire escape stairs for commercial buildings?
Yes, straight or landing stairs with balustrades and handrails in hot-dip galvanised steel, built from the engineer's drawings, with a RAMS where the site requires one.
